Automatic Milk Measurement and Sampling System

The milk from the milk producers’ societies at the bulk milk cooling center is collected by the milk union through the road milk tankers. Most of the times, there is a dispute/mismatch of parameters, between the milk producers’ society and the milk processing union, both in quantity of milk as well as the fat and SNF content, as the quantity measurement is through the dip stick in bulk milk cooler.

To avoid these disputes, IDMC has developed  an automatic milk measurement and sampling system, which is mounted behind the road milk tanker. The unit is fully automatic and is available with 6 and 14 sampling bottles, i.e., the milk collection from either 6 or 14 milk producers’ societies.

The milk transferred from the bulk milk cooler is measured through the automatic milk flow meter and the quantity is recorded through the PLC. The proportionate sample is drawn inline by the peristaltic pump while milk is transferred into the tanker. The sample is randomly collected in any of the sample bottles, which are provided with the RFID tag. The system is digitally locked and there is no possibility of tampering. In one of the bottles, a proportionate composite sample is also drawn, which is representative sample of all the 6/ 14 societies. Cooling pad is provided in the system to keep the temperature of samples low and avoid spoilage.

When the tanker reaches the dairy plant, the data from the PLC gets transferred to the server. The sample bottles are collected by the QC in charge at the milk processing union and the sample bottle is decoded through the RFID card reader. The quantity of milk collected from the respective society is available from the PLC and the fat and SNF is analyzed from the collected sample.

Available for 6 and 15 samples.
