From the Chairman FY 2021-22

Dear Shareholders,

IDMC is a leading integrated solutions provider to the dairy and allied industries. Throughout our three-decade-long journey, we have remained true to our core values and stayed responsive to customer needs by providing indigenous and cost-effective engineering and packaging solutions.

The dairy sector in India continues to play an important role in human health and nutrition and remains a vehicle for economic opportunity and improved livelihood of millions of farmers. Over the years, the Government of India and National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) have taken several measures for dairy development. Notable ones include the adoption of Artificial Insemination (AI) for genetic improvement of dairy stock; Progeny Testing and Pedigree Selection programmes aimed at producing and supplying different breeds of cattle and buffaloes for semen production, Ration Balancing Programme (RBP) to educate milk producers on scientific and balanced feeding of animals, among others.

To provide impetus to the growth of the dairy industry, the Government of India has signed an agreement with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for implementing dairy development projects in India. JICA will provide Official Development Assistance Loan (ODA) for projects in India with the objectives of increasing sales of milk and dairy products by enabling farmers to easily access the organized market, upgrade dairy processing facilities and marketing infrastructure and enhance the capacity of producer-owned institutions, thereby increasing returns to milk producers in the project area. The Project is in line with the vision of the Government of India through dairy development activities which aims at doubling farmers’ income by increasing the volume of milk marketed through better access to modernised markets and by upgrading cold chains, enhancing the capacity of dairy cooperatives.

As we remember Dr. Verghese Kurien on his centenary birth anniversary, we remain committed to pursuing his vision and contribute meaningfully to the development of the dairy industry. Dr. Kurien has been a great architect of viable developmental programmes and an institution builder of excellence. His exceptional leadership qualities and unparalleled commitment have changed the lives of millions of small milk producers. He was a man of extraordinary wisdom, ability and integrity. His impeccable skills in motivating people and raising resources, combined with entrepreneurial qualities helped to transform dairying in India and the “Anand Pattern” has become a model for dairy development across the globe.

Dr. Kurien has inspired us to believe that dairy development is not just about the commodity milk, but also about the socio and economic transformation of rural households in India. At IDMC, we are thankful to Dr. Kurien for giving us a purpose and mission of developing quality indigenous equipment and processes at reasonable prices which ensures import substitution. IDMC today is present in all stages of the dairy supply chain – from the farm to the customer with a range of indigenous solutions!

IDMC has excellent project execution and equipment manufacturing capabilities which enable the Company to supply high-quality dairy equipment for modernisation of the milk processing and chilling infrastructure. The Company leverages state-of-the-art technology across all verticals to maximize capabilities and enhance operational efficiency. The Company continues to focus on increasing its presence in the non-dairy segments such as healthcare, thermal management etc., in addition to consolidating our position in the niche dairy segment.

The Company has been carrying out several research and development activities to provide new products to the dairy sector. The mobile milking machine “milko bike”- launched by the Honourable Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Shri Purshottam Rupalji on the birth centenary of Dr. Verghese Kurien, has been well accepted and offers a unique additional employment opportunity in the villages. The newly developed continuous Khoa manufacturing machine of 200-250 Kg/hr capacity has also been well accepted by the market and the Company has received an order for the continuous Khoa process to manufacture 20 MT of Khoa per day. The packaged indigenous milk sweets market is growing rapidly and Khoa forms an important base for the manufacture of these milk sweets. The continuous Khoa machine apart from offering a hygienic solution, will also ensure faster and energy efficient production. I am confident that the Company would continue to develop new products to meet the needs of the Dairy Industry.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank our customers, our business partners, our employees, and our communities for the constant faith and support reposed in us.

Regards,
Meenesh Shah
Chairman
